I'd honestly never thought I'd be making this or using this product. I spend most days working in the sun on our farm and I didn't think it would be possible to use an all natural deodorant in TEXAS :D :P I worked hard trying some different recipes and finally tweaking this product to the point that I feel great about putting the Lone Star Slick name on it!
Simple organic and all natural ingredients sourced from only the best manufacturers. Natural oils and butters mixed with high grade essential oils this is a simple yet hard working deodorant.
Underarm odor is stinks (pun intended), but the toxins found in common deodorants is a heck of a lot scarier! There are lots of great reasons to use a "natural" deodorant; like if you have sensitive skin, have sworn off fake and synthetic chemicals, or like the idea of natural, aluminum-free deodorant for excessive sweating. Essential oils can reduce sweating and smelly armpits so why rely on the chemicals found in store bought deodorants.
This is a supersize container compared to that most deodorants on the market are in the 2 ounce range and ours is a whopping 4 ounces. Most natural deodorants on the market are between $7-$10 for a 2 ounce container and some still have "questionable ingredients".
You will only need about a pea sized little scoop on your finger and rub it into your armpits like you would lotion. You can apply once a day or more if you feel you need it but I honestly do it once. Remember the goal here is to not have any odor and not smell like a perfume factory. The scents or oils used to make the item do have a scent but it is not like a bar of say "old spice" :D
WHY GO ALUMINUM FREE?
Studies suggest that the use of aluminum-based antiperspirants/deodorants may be linked to breast cancer and other medical issues. Aluminum plugs the body's sweat glands and prevents sweating, but in the process, it can also be absorbed transdermally. There are lots of other concerns out there regarding aluminum in deodorant but if you are here looking at this product you've probably read up on the internet already about the issues.
THINGS COMMONLY FOUND IN REGULAR DEODORANTS:
Aluminum – Evidence links aluminum to cancer and Alzheimer’s Disease
Phthalates– Endocrine disrupters are often found in plastic that can cause hormone imbalance and even infertility, especially in men
Propylene glycol– Common name: antifreeze. It is a debated additive in personal care products but the Environmental Working Group reports that it carries a moderate risk of immunotoxicity and allergies
Formaldehyde- A known carcinogen… guess it kills the naughty germs though :D :P
Parabens- A hormone disruptor and parabens have been found in biopsied tissue with breast cancer
Antibacterial Substances- They are endocrine disruptors and can negatively affect the immune system
ORIGINAL (Not Scented) - The ingredients used to make this item do have a scent but it's not added to the recipe to be a "perfume or cologne". I find personally that I mostly smell a slight scent of tea tree and lavender even though other essential oils are used.
We are offering this in additional "scented" recipes that are made for their unique properties that may benefit folks wanting something more scented.
CITRUS ZING! - It's no secret that citrus smells are great because they are unisex so they are great for everyone but did you know that citrus oils are great at lowering the PH of your armpits helping to keep the body odor away??? Our Citrus Oil Blend is a unique take and includes Grapefruit, Lemongrass, Peppermint and Frankincense for a truly unique and energizing blend.
SOUL OF THE WOODS - Like a breath of fresh, mountain air, this Essential Oil blend is incredibly uplifting and rejuvenating. Made with Cedarwood, Siberian Fir Needle, Orange, Clove and others make this the perfect… Earthy, Green, Spice, Woodsy scent!

We are always happy to work with store owners, barber shops, online resellers and anyone who wants to sell Dixie Cowboy Products. Just send us a message and we can work on a custom wholesale order just for you. We are not currently wholesaling our handmade combs and brushes, it is just impossible to mass produce these at this time. Some minimums apply when placing items for resale.
While our handling and processing time is set to 3 business days we generally ship out rather quickly. We schedule pick ups for Monday and Thursday but usually can get one more shipment out during the week. If you really need something to ship feel free to send an email and discuss when I can get it out for you.
Where applicable we will give an idea of the ingredients in the product. We do this for the love and all items are as advertised so if we say something is "glycol free" or "soy free" etc... it is. BUT we've had so many fishy people lately trying to get us to give them the recipe to our unique items. We even researched some (I am a private eye afterall) and it led back to competitors, how shady is that!!! We love these products and we love you (our customers) so rest assured that our products are 100% as advertised. BUT again, if you have a specific allergy please just email us and we can tell you if it's safe.
We love what we make and our handmade items take up most of our free time these days. We treat each one like it's our artistic interpretation and as a piece of art. We no longer accept custom or personalized orders as what little free time goes into creating more product for our shop. Thank you for understanding.
No not all but many, any item that can be custom scented for you will have a drop down menu with a SCENT category in the listing. Some products can not be scented due to a majority of reasons.
Our animal hair is sourced right here in Texas. All our wood is sourced right here as well but there are a couple for obvious reasons like they don't grow in Texas that are sourced elsewhere. Same with the horns. If you are looking to start your own comb or brush business I would suggest doing some research as I'm not giving up my contacts :D :P :D :P
I can't give you a class on how to make the brushes or combs, please don't ask me to walk you through how you can make the brushes or combs yourself. I'm sorry but I've worked hard to create a niche and it's not very nice to expect me to give out trade secrets and walk you through how to attach, clean, sanitize etc.. the boar hair and attach it :D :P :D :P.
This seems to be the number one thing I've had emails about recently. All animals are treated with respect and dignity. When possible the material is sourced right on our farm but when needed we buy from other suppliers. It goes without saying that our GOAT and HORSE hair brushes are from "no kill" animals. Our boar hair is sourced in Texas from several places and is collected from wild boar who are hunted and processed for meat. There is no cruelty involved and all boars are dispersed as humanely as possible. Hair collection is only done when animal is processed after death.
