Leather is something we use everyday of our lives around here, from couches, boots, jackets, shoes, purses, vests. While leather has been used for eons most folks these days seem to have forgotten that leather dries out and does require the occasional care. I'm actually one of those folks that loves the look of old leather with all it's imperfections B U T that being said stained, streaked, worn or not conditioning your leather will make it last a lifetime!
A little of this leather balm goes a LONG WAAAAAYYYYYY.... do you have some old boots that have gone from being soft and comfy to hard and scaly? How about that great leather purse you own that is just not looking as supple as it used to? Maybe your saddle looks like petrified wood? Maybe your Irish/Scottish Sporran isn't looking so fancy anymore :)? well have no fear this here balm can take it from DRY to SPRY!!!!
I've been making this for my boots and the Mrs purses for a long time and recently a friend inquired about needing some for his old leather jacket and it occurred to me that I should offer it up for sale! I'm not charging much but I can sure tell you it'd be worth it's weight in gold to you.
This is a natural product, it's oils, waxes and butters... no filler products, petroleum jelly, alcohol etc.. that actually dries out the leather even more!
DIRECTIONS.... Well it's pretty simple, the balm is well..... balm consistency just scrape a little out and either apply it with a soft cloth or even your bare hands. I actually prefer using my hand as your body heat will continually keep the balm in a liquid state and you can really use your fingers to get in the small areas. The balm will warm with your body temperature as you rub it into your leather product. I've found rubbing in circles and changing directions helps get in all the small lines. It should be said though that it's always a good idea to clean the item first as it will work much better without grease and dirt on the top layer. A simple water, little bit of liquid soap and a few drops of vinegar solution works great for me. Just make a little bit and rub it down with a slightly moist rag or towel.
1-3 business days
Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. I'm not responsible for delays due to customs.
But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
We are always happy to work with store owners, barber shops, online resellers and anyone who wants to sell Dixie Cowboy Products. Just send us a message and we can work on a custom wholesale order just for you. We are not currently wholesaling our handmade combs and brushes, it is just impossible to mass produce these at this time. Some minimums apply when placing items for resale.
While our handling and processing time is set to 3 business days we generally ship out rather quickly. We schedule pick ups for Monday and Thursday every week so you can expect your order to go out on those days (depending when you order).
Where applicable we will give an idea of the ingredients in the product. We do this for the love and all items are as advertised so if we say something is "glycol free" or "soy free" etc... it is. BUT we've had so many fishy people lately trying to get us to give them the recipe to our unique items. We love these products and we love you (our customers) so rest assured that our products are 100% as advertised. BUT again, if you have a specific allergy please just email us and we can tell you if it's safe.
We love what we make and our handmade items take up most of our free time these days. We treat each one like it's our artistic interpretation and as a piece of art. We no longer accept custom or personalized orders as what little free time goes into creating more product for our shop. Thank you for understanding.
No not all but many, any item that can be custom scented for you will have a drop down menu with a SCENT category in the listing. Some products can not be scented due to a majority of reasons.
Our animal hair is sourced right here in Texas. All our wood is sourced right here as well but there are a couple for obvious reasons like they don't grow in Texas that are sourced elsewhere. Same with the horns. If you are looking to start your own comb or brush business I would suggest doing some research as I'm not giving up my contacts :D :P :D :P
I can't give you a class on how to make the brushes or combs, please don't ask me to walk you through how you can make the brushes or combs yourself. I'm sorry but I've worked hard to create a niche and it's not very nice to expect me to give out trade secrets and walk you through how to attach, clean, sanitize etc.. the boar hair and attach it :D :P :D :P.
This seems to be the number one thing I've had emails about recently. All animals are treated with respect and dignity. When possible the material is sourced right on our farm but when needed we buy from other suppliers. It goes without saying that our GOAT and HORSE hair brushes are from "no kill" animals. Our boar hair is sourced in Texas from several places and is collected from wild boar who are hunted and processed for meat. There is no cruelty involved and all boars are dispersed as humanely as possible. Hair collection is only done when animal is processed after death.
Our typical packaging consists of brand new heavyweight boxes and new bubblewrap... BUT .... we hate waste here whether it's horn chunks, wood pieces or even packaging items we get ourselves. SOOOOO I always keep a big box full of brown recycled paper, air pillows and anything else I can reuse. We don't normally ship with it UNLESS someone asks so PLEASE PLEASE just add a note with your order if you would like Green packaging.
We can not accept returns on items like combs and brushes etc... I could never in good faith accept a used comb back and resell it. Just the thought of it makes me cringe typing this :P If you ordered something that wound up not being perfect for you then do get in touch and we can chat about giving you a discount code to try another item. BUT under no circumstance can I even think about taking back those kinds of items. We love our customers and always use the highest standards when it comes to health and safety.

Delivery was prompt and no problems with the business end, but disappointed with the product. This stuff is made up of all natural ingredients which is what I wanted and it got good reviews, so I bought it. It melted easily and went into my lambskin smooth leather jacket without issue and made it look nice and shiny. Then I hung up the jacket and the next morning, the finish was dull, it had not made the jacket any softer and I can feel the wax on the surface. The only plus I guess is that maybe my jacket is more waterproof? Maybe I need to buff it? Maybe I put too much on? It didn't come with any instructions.
