DIXIE COWBOY - Made in the good ol' USA horse hair Bristle Brushes are just perfect for your hair or that messy beard :)! Hand carved from wood and then natural boar hair is added. All our BRUSHES are made one at a time and since each piece of wood is different there may be slight wood tone differences, sometimes even cool features like knots, splinters or rings, with different wood sometimes colors may vary just slightly depending on how the wood "takes" the stain.

Our goal with our Brushes was pretty straightforward. We wanted to create a quality animal Hair brush that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. We try and keep our designs simple, rustic and functional. The more hours we spend carving the Mona Lisa into the wood the more we would have to charge you :) So with that in mind we design and make classic style brushes that are affordable for everyone! I won't carry on forever but here are just some of the top reasons animal hair brushes are so great;

1. Grows hair faster and prevents hair loss

The bristle brush gently massages the scalp & face, increasing blood flow and unclogging the hair follicles. One of the factors in hair growth is blood flow to the hair follicles. Without blood flow, your hair cannot grow. This can often be a cause of hair loss and slow growing hair.

2. Conditions hair

A great bristle brush benefit is the fact that it naturally conditions your hair. It will distribute your scalp’s sebaceous oils throughout the rest of your hair. This allows the oil to coat your whole strand of hair, rather than just having it sit on your scalp. It’s nature’s best conditioner!

3. Adds shine

Since the bristle brush evenly distributes your scalps oils throughout the rest of your hair, it creates a natural shine to your hair. I used to use chemically-laden shine sprays daily and I thought switching to natural products would mean no more shine. I was wrong! The bristle brush gives me better shine than I ever got with shine spray AND it’s natural.

4. Cleans hair

Brushing with a bristle brush will take the oil that is otherwise weighing down your roots and making them look greasy, and distribute them throughout your hair. This will take away the oiliness at the roots. It will also remove excess oils on the hair by trapping them in the brush. The brush also helps to catch fuzz, dirt, and waste material build-up on the hair and scalp like a magnet.

5. Prevents hair breakage and frizz

Your scalps sebaceous oil acts as a natural protectant for your hair. It will help to seal in split ends, prevent hair breakage, and reduce frizz. It is better than any anti-frizz serum that you can find on the market today. It will also allow your hair to have more elasticity which will reduce breakage.

6. It’s a great styling tool

One of the best bristle brush benefits is that it works as a great styling tool for a couple of reasons. If you stand straight and flip your hair over, brush from the nape of your neck forward, it will leave your hair with amazing volume! On the flip side, if you brush your hair regularly your scalps oils coating your hair will help to naturally straighten your hair, no heat required!

7. Balances your scalps oil production

One of the little known bristle brush benefits is that it will help to balance out your scalps oil production. If your scalp is underproducing oils, it will help to stimulate the oil glands to start producing more oil. It will also allow your oil glands to breathe.

8. Softer hair

Since your hair strands are being coated in your scalp’s sebaceous oils, your hair will become softer! This is one of my favorite bristle brush benefits. The oils naturally condition your hair, leaving your hair shiny and super soft!



Animal / Boar hair in it's natural state is very soft, I know most people wouldn't think of boars as being soft and cuddly :D but when it combs to brushes the hair is actually quite soft. So any brushes that are listed as medium, mid-firm or firm stiff will have added stiffening bristles to make the brush the desired "stiffness". Even some SOFT brushes even require them sometimes, ever batch of hair is not exactly the same so we never make claims that are brushes are "100% BOAR HAIR" etc.. because for the brush to be functional it sometimes requires stiffeners. Other makers and even mainstream manufacturers like to use the term 100% pure boar hair but in reality they do not mean the brush is made of only boar hair but the hair that is used is 100% boar hair? follow me?

We take close up pictures of the bristles on all our auctions so you can see the exact brush you are bidding on and you can usually see if any stiffening pins are used. So please, we are being 100% honest with you so please understand this when buying. You can always send any questions you have that I haven't addressed here. not soak in water or alcohol. Some shedding is normal when new.
